Description

This piece by Dominic Pangborn, named "The Golden Age," is a compelling acrylic painting that celebrates the fusion of texture, pattern, and color. With a central figure surrounded by intricate designs and vibrant hues, the work seems to echo the complexity and depth of historical tapestries. The child's face, rendered with a golden glow, serves as an anchor amidst the surrounding swirl of vivid motifs, suggesting a sense of wonder and nostalgia for an era steeped in opulence and artistry. This painting showcases Pangborn’s impeccable talent at realism which is juxtaposed with modern design. The girl in the painting is inspired by Diego Velázquez’s painting “Las Meninas” created in 1656 and is currently on display at the Museo del Prado in Madrid. Velázquez was the leading artist of the Spanish Golden Age and Art History is embedded in Pangborn’s creative process. Yet, true to Pangborn, he added his flair; for when viewing the girl’s dress, the viewer will notice similar patterns used in his tie designs. From the personal collection of Dominic Pangborn. Dimensions: 68.5"h x 44"w (stretched, not framed). In very good condition. World renowned artist Dominic Pangborn has been a celebrated Detroit artist for decades.
